I was asked by a friend to talk about and read some feminist poetry for her grade eight class, and I thought it was appropriate to share the video I made for that with all of you..
As I said in the video, if you identify as a woman and you write poetry, I think you are writing feminist poetry, and I encourage you to do that without silencing other voices in your process. We as women have come a long way, but we live in what is still a largely patriarchal society. In my opinion this causes issues for men and women, and is the root cause of other issues like racism, so we need strong women (and men) to continue to use their voices to promote positive change.
