The Fundamentals of Flowetry

There are lots of hula hoop dancers online, and we all share cool tricks with each other, but how much do we think about why we practice flowetry? Join the Panoptical Poet to talk about the history of hula hooping, sacred geometry, proprioception, and how to practice flowetry in a respectful way.

About the event

Why do you practice flowetry?

We all know hula hoop dancing (flowetry) is extremely enjoyable and that it also has many benefits for our physical health but there are so many other reasons to practice the art of flowetry!

Hula hoop dancing has a myriad of mental health benefits and it is also used by some cultures as a sacred way to express their spirituality.

For all of these reasons it is important that we think about why we come to flowetry and how we can practice it in a way that is respectful to ourselves and to the cultures that have practiced it for centuries.

Learning about proprioception and sacred geometry can help us take our flowetry practice to a deeper level and understand how it assists us in things like connecting to the world, ourselves, and each other on a psychological and spiritual level.

Join the Panoptical Poet to find out more about the meaning of flowetry!

Bring a hula-hoop (as this session will end with a flow jam and I will be happy to teach a few tricks to any beginners who attend) and an open mind to this interactive flowetry workshop that will help you find your flow.

This workshop is for hula hoopers of any skill level who want to deepen their connection to their practice.
